New deadlines to register for the Cal Bar and NCBE update

Hello everyone.  A brief update about the Sept. 9-10 Cal Bar Exam.

The new registration deadlines are published.  The new timely filing deadline (assuming this means someone who is not receiving Feb. 2020 Cal Bar results) is May 13, and the final filing deadline (with extra fee, presumably) is July 16.

As to the NCBE, they anticipate there will be enough applicants for the July exam so the NCBE is willing to make their materials available (MBE, MEE, MPT) for those taking a July exam.  Of course, that's irrelevant to the Cal Bar Sept. 9-10 crowd.  As it relates to the Cal Bar (and other Sept. exam crowd), they punted, at least for now.  To wit:

"We also continue to study and formulate options for an emergency remote assessment for those jurisdictions that cannot administer an in-person bar exam due to COVID-19 restrictions.

We will continue to work closely with jurisdictions in the weeks ahead to help ensure that law graduates have the answers they need as they prepare for licensure."

Which is to say:  nothing.

Remember the Cal Bar owes the Cal Supreme Court an update on Monday, May 11, about exam logistics.  We shall see what comes of it.

Good luck to those awaiting results tomorrow!
